We never know when our end will come.

Yesterday afternoon doing something my boy doggie (Beau) and I have done for more than two years since living in our neighborhood is take a walk and cross a fairly busy two lane highway. We do this so we can walk by a lake enjoying much scenery. Of course this means we cross the highway twice.

This particular time as we crossed the highway to return home Beau wiggled out of his collar! For a moment it was my nightmare. Though a school bus was coming all I could think of in that moment was herding Beau off the highway and back into our subdivision. I completely had no thought for myself or my safety for those few seconds.

Thankfully, Beau obeyed my calls to him and joyously ran in a few circles until I could pick him up, collect my heart, and look back to notice the bus had slowed almost to a stop. I'm quite sure the bus driver's heart about stopped too as I'm sure I was in his lane at least a few seconds.

Needless to say, Beau and I will not be going across the highway anymore. We will just not go that route anymore. We'll stay in our neighborhood, as I do when I walk my girl doggie (Lou-Lou).

One thing about it, this experience proved to me in no uncertain terms, we never know when our end will come.
